Aloxe-Corton 'Les Boutieres' 2020
Aloxe-Corton 'Les Boutieres' 2020
A concentrated, dark-fruited Pinot Noir from the southern slopes of Aloxe-Corton.
Located at the southern tip of the appellation, the 'Les Boutieres' vineyards extends down the hillside on a mixture of clay, marl and limestone soils. The fruit is harvested by hand and triaged on the sorting table before destemming. Fermentation is takes place in open vats over 18 days, with a daily hand plunging. Once complete, the wine is gently pressed to barrel (20% new) for 17 months in the estate's cellar.
The wine beautifully caputes the purity and complexity of its origin. Layered with ripe fruit and seductive spice, it offers notes of kirsch and blackberry along with hints of savoury spice and earthy minerality. The palate is soft and full with broad tannins, bright acidity and a long cherry finish that balance the richness of the fruit. Drinking beautifully now, this wine will remain young and toned for 5 years before giving way to more complexity.
